the slow, downhill senior slide

“How is your senior spring looking so far?” you ask.

“Do you really want to know? FYI - it’s only been two weeks…” I say. But hey, here goes.

My love letter to Holy Cross, and my senior spring slide.

Dropping my fourth class, Introduction to Greek Mythology, simply because I felt like it.

Skimming the 40-page readings assigned for my classes.

Eating late-night munchies featuring oreo’s and ben & jerry’s.

Hammering to spend time with anyone and everyone I can, at anytime and anyplace.

Sitting in Dinand Library, trying to do homework, but scrolling on Pinterest instead.

Knowing I should be applying to jobs, but catching myself rewatching Sex and the City for the 20th time.

Overloading on caffeine from the new on-campus Starbucks location in Stein.

Shamelessly ordering takeout from every local fast-food restaurant at 2am on Thursdays.

Watching the freshman wander around Caro Street from my living room window on the weekends, wondering if they know how truly lucky they are.

Paying $15 just to meander around Kimball and munch on some curly fries, reliving the dinners I spent with my friends 3 years ago.

Watching the money in my bank account dwindle as I plan spring break, cape week, and other fun senior memories.

Scrolling online, looking for the perfect white dress for graduation.

Writing this random blog post as I sit in my Writing about Data & Policy class.

Wondering if 3 years ago, freshman Cassie knew that her time here was going to go too fast.

Smiling knowing that she once was naive, wide-eyed, and curious about the future that lies ahead.

Satisfied, proud of the girl who found her temporary yet permanent home, and finding her second family along the way.

Sincerely,

Cassie
